Conor Powell is a freelance video journalist joined based in Kabul currently working for Fox News.
Before packing up his belongings and heading to Afghanistan, Conor covered Congress and 2008 Presidential elections for Newschannel 8 in Washington D.C.
He began his career at the NBC affiliate KNDO in Yakima, Washington. While in the Evergreen State he covered everything from the growing tensions over immigration in the community to dozens of local and state elections – including the 2006 Senate race between Mike McGavick and Sen. Maria Cantwell.
In Afghanistan, he has been on several embeds with US troops – including the US Army in Paktika Province in Eastern Afghanistan and U.S Marines as they stormed the Helmand city of Marjah. Conor also traveled around the country with Dr. Abdullah, the main challenger to Afghan President Karzai, during the 2009 Afghan Presidential Election.
Conor graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a B.A in Internationals Studies and earned his Masters in Social and Political Science from Cambridge University in England.
